Your mindset!

It's totally understandable, especially if you’ve had a bad experience delegating in the past that you can't shake.

But just because it's happened in the past, why does it have to be that way again in the future?

Your mindset is often the one missing puzzle piece that you may be unaware of or ignoring.

After all, it seems so intangible and difficult to change.?

The good news?

Mindset is a learnable skill, just like riding a bike!?

? "I’ve been burnt in the past - it’s just not worth it. Fool me once…"Name 5 things that are different about the situation this time (e.g. You’ve got me in your corner, breaking it all down for you!).What makes you think the end result won’t also be different this time??

? "Delegating will only slow me (and the business) down! Too many deadlines, not enough time."Maybe… but take a step back - what are you trying to achieve? Hitting deadlines or creating long-term impact??

? "I just can’t trust Joe (or really anyone else) to do the task exactly the way that I would do it."Sounds like you’re looking for a cloning machine. :)What evidence do you have that nobody else on the planet can do the task as well as (or even better than) you in a different way?

? "I don’t have any direct reports to delegate to."Where does the belief that you can only delegate to direct reports come from??

? "My people just aren’t motivated enough. They don’t seem to want to take ownership."That may be the case, but assuming it’s not, what else might be going on??
