Here's what your 2020 content strategy could look like

It's time to start thinking about what your content strategy is going to look like in 2020.

So without further ado, here's my rapid guide to kicking your content creation process up a notch in 2020.

>>> Publish 4 articles per month. They should include links to authoritative sources and feature images, screenshots and videos where appropriate.

Pay attention to your industry and write around topics where you have a valuable two cents to contribute. Each post can summarise a wide range of ideas around a topic or fill a gap in the knowledge market.

>>> Post these blogs to your social media platforms with a bespoke post designed for each platform. These should add value and not just say 'click this link'.

Pay close attention to your social media feeds. Jump in on conversations where you can add something to the discussion and point people towards your content in a non spammy and natural way.

>>> Email people you think would get value from reading your posts. Ask them if they like them to share them with their networks. You’ll be surprised how many people will say yes.

>>> Find ways to ‘recycle’ your posts. This could mean turning your key passages from your posts into memes, illustrated quotes, or this could mean simply posting relevant screenshots of your articles on social media along with a link if people want to find more. Make sure these screenshots are accompanied by a summary of what they’re talking about in case people aren’t able to access your images (for example, if they’re using a screen reader).

For more on this idea of turning a big piece of content into lots of smaller digestible pieces check out this slide deck by Gary Vaynerchuk, one of the masters of making content stretch as far as possible.

If you do everything (or at least most of it) that I’ve talked about in this article you’ll be well on your way to taking your content marketing strategy to the next level and growing your business.
