The news keeps getting scarier ...
But it doesn't matter if you're unemployed, newly laid off, on temporary leave, working from home, sheltering-in-place, in quarantine, or just want to change jobs, there are things you can do now to find a new job during the COVID-19 outbreak.
I talk to job seekers every day, many who are frustrated, but others who are finding success. Every day, I get thank you emails from people I've helped find jobs ... including this week.
And there are some common things that successful job seekers all seem to do, that helps them accelerate their job search ... these are all still working even this week.
Here's what you can do now to find a new job during the coronavirus epidemic:
- Turn Off The News And Start Now: Delay is your biggest enemy, especially now. The candidates who get an early start will have the best chances of landing a job fast. The jobs being hired during the outbreak will be emergency positions that employers need to fill immediately.
- Improve Your Resume And Job Search Strategy: That resume you had written by outplacement, with advice from most career coaches/authors or you paid to have written by Certified professional resume writers may have been ok before, but inadequate to find a job during the health crisis.Job searching has just gotten much more competitive with as many as 1M new unemployed workers, plus the tens of millions working from home or on temporary leave. To find a job fast in this newly competitive environment, you need to do more to show employers you'll do more on the job.
- Stop Applying Online: Jobs being hired during this crisis will be emergency hires, will be filled quickly, and you'll be too late if you apply through job boards or company career pages. The candidates being hired during the coronavirus epidemic will be found through the hidden job market. You need to get busy networking, and learn how to adjust your job search networking to work in today's environment.
These successful strategies are very different than what you're doing now.
Want to learn how to find your next job fast in during the coronavirus crisis?
This is the 3rd recession I've recruited/coached through, so I've seen first hand what resume and job search strategies succeed for job seekers during recessions. I've also seen mistakes candidates make, causing their recession job searches to fail. I've been through this before and know what works and what doesn't.
As a top national recruiter who reads hundreds of resumes per day, who has helped hundreds of thousands of candidates in their job search, and seen thousands of employers' job search processes from the inside, I've got a different perspective than most career coaches.
I see that most job seekers do essentially the same things, even when they think they are job searching differently. I also see most job seekers were taught search methods that eliminate them from consideration, because they conflict with the employer's hiring process.
But I've been teaching job seekers to overcome ageism for 13+ years by using non-traditional resume/job search strategies that demonstrate impact rather than just being average. I'll show you how to beat agism and find a great job during the recession by understanding employers' point of view and hiring processes ... and using this understanding to beat your competition.
(I'm not just a career coach. I've also been a top national recruiter for the last 15 years ... so you'll get advice from a different perspective - an insider's point of view.)
Let me show you what you can do now to change your job search and resume so you can find a great job during the coronavirus recession, even if you're unemployed or over 40.
