Here’s what we’re thankful for ??

Hello LinkedIn friends,

If I’ve learnt one thing in the past five and half years of running a business, it’s that an attitude of gratitude will get you everywhere – whether you’re an intern, running an ASX-listed company, or working with clients.

In the spirit of the thanksgiving season, I wanted to share a few of the things I am most grateful here at Media Mortar. If you believe in the art of paying it forward, it might be a nice tradition you start with your business or team too.

I’m grateful for:

  1. The rockstar team we have here – I am forever relieved that I am not the smartest person in the room. One of my favourite management tips is to hire smart people and then get out of their way.
  2. The client portfolio we’ve developed – If you’ve read the blog post we penned at the time of our five year anniversary, you’ll know that the secret to our small business success is simply showing up and doing the hard work, consistently. Not a day goes past that I am not grateful to our customers for their continued support – without them we wouldn’t be employing seven staff or delivering award-winning content. It’s mind blowing to think some of our current client portfolio have been with us since day dot – they’re not sick of us … yet!
  3. The work we get to do – it doesn’t escape me that we get to promote some of the most epic products and places on the planet. I attended a conference late last month and during speed networking got to list off our client portfolio. Safe to say jaws hit the floor that our agency is working with household names and brands. We might be a small team, but who said we’re not mighty?

I’d love to know – what are you grateful for this year in work or at home?

'til next time,

Hannah

One of the secrets to the storytelling success we teach is that the customer is the hero of the story, not the brand. So, in keeping, we thought what better time to share some highlights from our clients just in time for Christmas.

Save this down as your ultimate gift guide:

To read: Life Unhurried

We were lucky enough to provide strategic marketing consultation to the three wise ladies at Life Unhurried earlier this year. Needless to say, we are superfans of their new book and think you should order a copy too.

To visit: The Murray

It’s been a wild ride for our friends in The Murray. After living through the worst Covid-19 lockdowns of any of our clients thanks to their position straddling three state borders, the region in the lead-up to their peak season of summer was flooded terribly. Do yourself a favour and hurry to The Murray to support small and engage big with the local operators.

Need some inspiration, check out these blogs (Houseboating 101: Your Murray River houseboat questions answered, 8 must do’s aboard a houseboat on The Murray, Charter your own adventure: The ultimate guide to houseboating on The Murray) we wrote about how you can take a houseboat out along Australia’s longest river (pssst – prices are as little as $30/day).

To buy: Rescue Swag

Eager to set out on an adventure this summer? Rescue Swag is your new BFF. Put Christmas in the swag and purchase the ultimate first aid kit for the holiday season for you or a friend and give the gift of safety while supporting the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section).

To create: Queensland Libraries

News flash, libraries are SO much more books. They’re a local hub for the whole community hosting regular activity programs, home cafes, and even podcast studios. If you’re looking to get into the festive spirit find your local library here and check out their what’s on, or follow @queenslandlibraries for more.

The sessions will be held on a Saturday at our office (Highgate Hill) and will be aimed at people who want to get back onto the organic and paid tools or those who perhaps are feeling a little rusty after some time away from Ads Manager.

Focusing on all things organic social media management alongside how to choose the right paid campaign, participants will walk away knowing how to set-up and manage their own FB and IG ads.

We’re recruiting now for interns to join our Launchpad Internship Program in 2023.

If you know someone looking to put what they’re learning at university into practice, please invite them to apply!

We like to think of our internships as mental gymnastics because we want our interns to leave with more skills than they walked in the door with. That’s our commitment.

Our Launchpad Internship Program gives candidates insight into the in’s and out’s of a content marketing agency.

If this sounds like you or someone you know, email your resume and a one-minute video introduction cover letter to Melissa – [email protected] or read more about the program here.
