Here’s what to do, read and listen to for more harmony in the workplace

In this edition, I'm sharing something you can do, read and listen to. Each one will help you build a more harmonious, safe and productive workplace. I hope you find them interesting and valuable.

TOPIC OF THE MONTH

At the very heart of all conflict resolution are two things: emotional intelligence and communication. Good self-awareness and the ability to effectively recognise our emotions and those of others result in more collaborative and positive relationships at work. To help organisations equip their workforce with these skills, I've developed a new workshop, 'How to Manage Difficult Conversations and Communicate Better'. I think you'll love it.?

IN THE NEWS

Are you aware of the recent legislation changes?introducing a positive duty on employers to take reasonable and proportionate measures to eliminate sex discrimination, sexual and sex-based harassment, hostile work environments and victimisation? If not, it's time to read up and take preventative action. I believe these changes reinforce how important it is for workplaces to build a culture of respect. Employers must take a stand and make it clear they will not tolerate this kind of behaviour from anyone in the organisation.??

OVER ON THE PODCAST

Thank you for all the positive reactions to my podcast with the brilliant Seth Godin. I'm still on a high about it. If you haven't listened yet, we chat about his new book, 'The Song of Significance'?and discuss the difference between managers and leaders and what people really care about in the workplace. Find and subscribe to 'Peace at the Water Cooler' on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iTunes?or whatever listening app you use.

Did something in this month's newsletter spark your interest? Hit reply and tell me. And as always, if you'd like to explore how I can help your organisation with an investigation, mediation or conflict training, book a confidential chat with me today.?

"Everyone should know before they die, what they are running to, and from, and why" (James Thurber). So I think people are not just motivated to leave by a bad boss, they also have dreams and a career to pursue. If they can't do that here they will be motivated to find somewhere else where they can. If the bad bosses are not dealt with pretty soon your Company will become known a a place where dreams go to die.

Couldn't agree more, Saranne Segal! Bad managers can make or break the work experience. Your solution-oriented approach is much needed in today's workplace.
