Here’s Some Of The Benefits To Having Your Aircraft Maintained At Company-Owned Facilities

Ownership of any serviceable asset will be accompanied by the question of whether to maintain it with the OEM (the manufacturer) or a Third Party, and business aircraft are no exception! Read below to see the benefits of having your aircraft maintained at a company-owned Service facility.

Increased Resale Value

The result of all the other benefits yet to be described is an increase in aircraft resale value. Even if you have had it maintained at well-established third-party maintenance facilities, the market deems your aircraft to be safer and of a higher quality with the OEMs seal of approval in the log book. You will be able to obtain a higher price for your aircraft when you sell it.

Technical Expertise

Each OEM facility has its own dedicated Engineering team that provides technical information to guide the work being performed on your aircraft; an Engineering team backed up by whole other groups of global technical experts above them. They have access to decades of historical data, 1000s of company-created technical documents. This means that troubleshooting, crisis resolution and technical support can be obtained quicker and more reliably than anywhere else, and any work on your aircraft performed at the service facility also has that expertise attached to it by default.

Expert Mechanics

The mechanics working on your aircraft are specialists. They work on your aircraft type only, are supported by the same engineering resources as above, and have been trained on the specific processes, workings and specialised tools needed by your aircraft. As such, they are the people best placed to provide high quality service to it. OEM facilities often run multiple mechanics on multiple shifts too, meaning downtime can be significantly reduced.

Parts & Materials

At an OEM facility, any parts or materials installed or used will be company-authorised, as opposed to coming from grey or second-hand markets as may be found being used by Third Parties. This means they are safe, of quality, and have serial numbers which are traceable, giving you evidence of genuineness to leverage should it be needed. Furthermore, consumable items such as hydraulic fluids and oils will be premium labels - small but important factors that help to maintain the standard of your aircraft.

Many OEMs also offer dedicated parts coverage programs which help lessen some of the headaches associated with buying aircraft parts.

Note – OEMs also have non-company owned, third party facilities who they've given authorisation to perform work on their aircraft. These facilities are known as Authorised Service Facilities, are an extension of the company’s network, and are too a respected place to get your aircraft maintained.
