Here's Seven Last Thoughts Before You Close Up and Relax

Tip #1 - If like me, you believe financial services is changing quickly and building advisory firms of the future will be different; I still think Start With Why tells the story best about how clients will value your work - yes, it's been on my best-recommended list for sometime, but for good reason - the stuff it talks about works, and works really well.

Tip #2 - If your team needs greater focus or support or re-alignment, then consider getting Kolbe A analysis on each of them in the new year. I was introduced to Kolbe when I did Strategic Coach nearly 20 years ago and also, it just works to help align and focus team members to their strengths.

Tip #3 - If like most of my clients, you're thinking next year might be the year to understand the approach to self-license (or you're already self-licensed looking for support) or you're just wondering about the whats or hows about self-licensing - make contact with Stuart Chandler at AFSL Complance - he has helped many of our clients - he's not the only one, but we've never heard anyone say he wasn't value for money.

Tip #4 - If you're wondering if your social media approach could be improved, changed, developed - I've been following Chris Brogan's stuff for ten years and continually learn from it - he writes well, simply and just makes good sense without all the 'bright shiny distracting techno' stuff.

Tip #5 - I've only got two key twitter followers setup - one for anything written by Adele Ferguson and another for anything from Sally Patten - both AFR/Fairfax. I reckon they provide good analysis, write clearly, have good background research and usually are hitting nails on the head. Regardless of whatever you think about next year's Royal Commission, you are going to need some analysis to support your views (whatever they are) when quizzed by clients, prospects, alliance, team members, or mates.

Tip #6 - if, like me, you reckon "less is more" - then potentially use my client value grid (see below) to make sure your 2018 and beyond is as productive (i.e. more returns less time) as possible - whilst acknowledging EVERY client deserves EQUAL respect, not every client deserves the same service. In particular, use the grid to help you identify which clients represent your future and which clients most probably represent your past and what are you going to do about that?

Tip #7 - OK spoiler alert - this tip is a 'sell' - if you are seriously (and I mean seriously) re-considering the pricing of your advice approach in 2018, my very last four pricing webinars (which I ran August through November this year) represent my latest models, spreadsheets, scripts, and processes that we use every day with our advisory firm clients to help them price on VALUE rather than product or time - I firmly reckon Pricing on Value is going to be ESSENTIAL for advice firms of the future - hourly rates don't work and pricing on AUM/Premiums just won't give you the growth options you need. Each of these sold for $89+gst each, but you can buy all four for $249+gst up until December 22nd.

There you have them - short, sweet and hopefully useful. 2018 is going to be a great year to build great advisory firms.

Wishing you a relaxing holiday.

?PS - Whenever you're ready... here are 4 ways I can help you grow your advice firm of the future:

1. Grab a free copy of my book - Delivery Certainty - it's got all the scripts, templates, implementation questions and theories about Certainty Advice and how to scale an advice firm that will thrive well into the future - click here.

2. Browse my Advice Shop - scroll through all my books and specific webinars on topics ranging from working with alliances, seeking referrals, engagement on value and many others - just click on this link and browse through.

3. Join our community of advisory firms from all over Australia and New Zealand and work with us to build your advice firm of the future - if this is of potential interest, just reply to this message and put "community" in the subject line.

4. Work with me and my team privately - If you'd like to work directly with me and my team to advise you specifically how to build your version of a successful advisory firm of the future - just reply to this message and put "private" in the subject line and tell me a little about your situation and what you'd particularly want to work on in 2018.
