Community – and its benefits to building a business – has been coming up a lot for me these days.
At a recent fireside chat with KPMG Vancouver's Women in Advisory network, I shared how supporting and building connections with other entrepreneurs got my business flywheel going. Those early efforts continue to be the backbone of my business development – not to mention some of my longstanding friendships!
It got me thinking about how, in Crisp's early days, I leveraged formal communities like The Forum not only to level up my skills, but to connect with Vancouver’s ecosystem of entrepreneurs.
A couple weeks ago, I was invited to speak at YWCA Metro Vancouver 's PowerUp Entrepreneurial Showcase. I shared my “Lessons Learned” with a crowd of early-stage entrepreneurs, and (you guessed it!) one of these was about tapping into a community. Building a community – fostering relationships, being genuinely interested in people and yes, the dreaded networking – has been and remains the secret sauce for the success of my business.?
