Here’s how to power innovation with a cybersecurity strategy

In an increasingly digital economy, cybersecurity stays among the top priorities for any organization. After all, they depend on their digital infrastructures (data, end-user platforms and communications) for business continuity, team collaboration and customer delivery.
So it's not surprising that a Dell Technologies research from ESG (Enterprise Strategy Group) has found that businesses protected from cyberattacks are 7.7x more likely to deliver new offerings to market quicker than the competition. They’re also more assertive about forward-looking business results and forecast revenue growth twice the rate of their exposed counterparts.

The benefits of a resilient strategy
Focusing on what an organization has to gain will resonate across the board and lead to action that will make them more secure and more successful.
For example, a secure environment generates greater confidence to innovate and be available to market faster, to develop an IP that they can protect and plan for a future where they’re in control.
The data from our Dell Technologies Innovation Index reinforces this idea. We’ve spoken to more than 6,000 business leaders and IT decision-makers from 45 countries and 14 different industries. At the end of the study, we classified the companies into five different categories: Innovation Laggards, Innovation Followers, Innovation Evaluators, Innovation Adopters and Innovation Leaders (for those interested, here’s the link to the study). Below I share some of the information gathered about our region.
-?????? 87% of LatAm Innovation Leaders and Adopters say they prioritize security and are prepared for most threats versus 50% of LatAm Laggards and Followers;
-?????? 77% (Brazil 81% / Mexico 76% / Argentina 74% / Colombia 88% / NOLA 82%) of decision makers in LatAm haven’t yet explored or built a Zero Trust architecture;
-?????? Only 33% (Brazil 36% / Mexico 27% / Argentina 38% / Colombia 28% / NOLA 10%) are employing a holistic end-to-end security strategy integrating hardware and software protections.

Plan for the worst-case scenario
In the ever-evolving landscape of cybersecurity, it’s crucial to continuously advance security practices and embrace a Zero Trust approach. This approach includes:
-?????? Reducing the attack surface: cybersecurity is not a one-time task but an ongoing process. Regular audits, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments are essential to mitigating risks and enhancing overall defense posture against new and emerging threats;
-?????? Detecting and responding to cyber threats: it’s imperative to remain alert and plan for the worst-case scenario. Companies should establish a response and recovery plan that is continuously updated and routinely practiced so that the entire organization knows how to reduce the effects of an attack;
-?????? Recovering from a cyberattack across various domains, including edge, core, and cloud.

This is also where Generative AI comes in. Although it presents new security challenges, it promotes enhanced threat detection and response, predictive capabilities and operational efficiency.
