A client gave me something to think about.....
" How do I know if my marketing is working?" Yes, we've all heard it before, so here goes.
Failure to track marketing ROI equals failure to make effective decisions.
So many businesses fail to track the ROI on their marketing spend which results in a lack of clarity and transparency with what is and isn't working. If you don't track marketing ROI you can't measure the overall effectiveness of the firm's marketing strategy. Therefore, you can't make good decisions for future marketing investments.
Before you can begin tracking what return you've achieved, you first need to know how much you have to spend. Look at the marketing activities you want to do over the next 12 months and agree your marketing budget.
Go to www.doingitdifferently.com/businessgrowth90 and you can start with filling in the FREE Sales Accelerator Growth Map - this benchmarks where your business is NOW.
Then start tracking KPI's that you can measure ROI:
- Client acquisition rate
- Client retention rate
- Marketing spend per customer
- Lifetime value of a customer
- Marketing qualified lead
- Sales qualified lead
- Conversion rate
Make sure to set clear objectives and review these quarterly to assess how well your marketing campaigns are performing. For example, a particular marketing activity might be generating lots of leads but you notice the conversion rate is poor. This could mean the quality of leads isn't what your business wants and therefore you'd be better focusing on another marketing strategy instead.
We have FREE tools to help you and keep this simple - our Business Growth90 programme gets you going in 90 days and I'm more than happy to go through this with you and at the very least get your benchmark where you are now set up - just get in touch and we can fix up a meeting.
