Congrats to Ayesha M. Hudson, owner of A-Peace, on cutting the green ribbon on 9 new sustainable, affordable homes in Ward 8! Yesterday, we celebrated Ayesha's hard work and this new addition to the community along with DC Department of Housing and Community Development, Amazon, Capital Impact Partners, DC Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU), community members, and Ayesha's family and friends, who all made this project possible. ? With a $3 million investment from DC Green Bank, Ayesha made her vision of green, resident-centered development for her community a reality. This all-electric building also features rooftop solar and energy-efficient appliances that will cut carbon emissions and utility costs. ? This project shows the potential of ambitious community leaders collaborating with DC Green Bank to bring their projects to life. We are proud to work with entrepreneurs like Ayesha who want to bring the benefits of the clean economy to their communities. DC Green Bank deploys public dollars in order to mobilize private investment to deploy solar and renewable energy, increase the efficiency of buildings and systems, deliver stormwater management and green infrastructure projects, and green our transportation systems. We provide financing for every stage of projects - pre-development, construction, and permanent - to ensure that we create pathways for a more sustainable future for all. We are a catalyst for a more equitable green transition where all DC residents are recipients of the benefits of a cleaner and vibrant city. DC Green Bank seeks to be the go-to financing resource for District residents, small business owners, contractors and commercial developers interested in energy efficiency improvements, clean energy installations, and green infrastructure construction. New deal closing! A $415,000 DC Green Bank loan to Walker Memorial Baptist Church will finance a solar energy system and roof replacement. The Ward 1 church's new 68kW solar power system will: ??Save the church an estimated $10,000 on its utility bills annually ??Create up to $30,000 in solar renewable credits every year ??Generate almost 75,000 kWh annually, cutting carbon emissions equivalent to 130,000 miles driven by car The church is also receiving a $66,000 Renewable Energy Tax Credit – made possible through the Inflation Reduction Act's "direct pay" provision – which allows tax-exempt organizations to fully benefit from tax credits for building clean energy projects. “We’re thrilled to work with a historic church and cornerstone of the U Street community to deliver benefits of the clean energy economy to their congregation,” said Trisha Miller, CEO of DC Green Bank. “We look forward to working with more faith-based organizations to help them save money on their utility bills so they can invest more money in their communities.” “DC Green Bank has been an essential partner in helping us with financing to make our?solar energy project a reality,” said Reverend Ademuyiwa T. Bamiduro, Senior Pastor at?Walker Memorial Baptist Church. “We’ve not only addressed the pressing need of replacing our aging roof, but with the addition of this solar power system we can use our utility savings to better impact and?serve our congregation and?community.” Read more at https://lnkd.in/dRABPwET

With the support of a $2 million investment from DCGB, Jubilee's Ontario Place development will feature an aquaponics farm that will provide fresh food to residents of the building's 52 affordable homes. The building also has rooftop solar and an energy-efficient HVAC system that will cut utility costs.
