Here’s to the Crazy Ones ….. revisited
There’s an old adage that goes something like this: “We get fed up with our ‘stuff’ way before others do.”
We stop ads way before we should because we don’t like them any more. We don’t re-run the successful email campaign because we’ve found a new way of doing it. And if we present, we can’t keep doing the same presentation even though it blows peope’s mind when they see it.
So …. particularly with that last thought in mind, on my run this morning I decided that when I got to my desk, I’d back-track to some ‘old’ presentation sequences.
I’m glad I did. I came across one I last did 3 years ago.
Let me set the scene. Steve Jobs has just come back to Apple. It’s January 1998. Forbes has just run a story that Apple is 3 months from bankruptcy. The Apple share price is $2:97 (don’t you wish you’d bought then)!
So Steve Jobs decides to address the team. It’s the first time he uses that “here’s to the crazy ones” line. And he does it beautifully as you’ll see below:
It’s a brilliant framing of Apple’s WHY.
Maybe now is a great time to be crazy enough to look at yours too.
And when you do, be sure to create a week of wonderment ahead.
