Here’s To Another Head-Spinning But Fun Year!

And so here we are, getting ready to wrap up the year that proved to be a rollercoaster worthy of a spot at Thorpe Park…
2021 started, quite literally, with me walking through the deserted streets of London to the office, cartwheeling across Euston Road (not recommended outside of lockdown!) and spending an enormous amount on Deliveroo and UberEats (not recommended regardless of lockdown status!). Cartwheels aside, there was also a slight fear about what the year would bring, and with that, questions aplenty. How long would the restrictions last? When would people stop referring to “the new normal”? How would international business fare? Would we ever travel for work again? Perhaps most importantly, would the IAA Christmas Luncheon happen? (Spoiler alert below)
Come spring and summer, the streets filled up again and so did our calendars, with face-to-face meetings and social gatherings back on the agenda. Not quite like before, granted, but gosh was it a welcome change to have people around in the office to share an afterwork drink with, or even to just sit in companionable silence.
From a business point of view, 2021 felt busier than ever, and this was suitably reflected in our numbers. So, after some loops, spins, dizzying heights, and head spinning drops, we have landed a week or so from Christmas with a record year in the bank, and plenty of positivity from the market as we head into 2022. It’s been hard work for sure, but we managed to find time for some leisurely lunches as well as some shape throwing on the dance floor at the Hilton Park Lane in between the madness.
It is THE cliché of clichés but it’s true, this year has flown by, and now I’m off to finish the 2022 forecasting ?A huge thank you to all our publishing partners, agencies, and clients alike – let’s do it all over again next year.
Hope you all have a fantabulous lead up to Christmas and a wonderful end to the year!?
