Here is WHY you NEED a Freight Forwarder

Hello Friends,? Lets talk about transit cargo...

Here is WHY you NEED a Freight Forwarder to handle and advise you on your shipments

Real-life case: Wabebe, a Ugandan businessman based in Uganda, was importing electronics from China to Uganda. The electronics worth $7,000 were packed in a 1.5x2.0x1.5 package. The goods were consolidated with other shipments and shipped by sea to the port of Mombasa. Wabebe arranged for the clearance of his goods at the port, clearance, and loading of the goods. Mid-journey transiting through Kenya, Wabebe called the agent and instructed them to hand over the shipment to one of his vans to deliver to his premises. The driver allowed the owner to break the customs seal and transfer the goods to his van.He later handed over all the documentation for the shipment. Wabebe managed to get a business friend in Kenya who was willing to buy some of his electronics and sold half of the consignment. Trying to avoid customs inspection Wabebe decided to try out another route to cross over to his country. Unfortunately, his plan did not work out and his van was held by the border patrol who later engaged the customs department to inspect the cargo on board..... Wabebe was fined $3,000 and his electronics were confiscated by customs.

The East African Community has helped align how business is conducted and goods moved through the partner states. The Customs Authority works to ensure that the rules and regulations are followed as per the EAC Customs Management Act.
