HERE WE GOOOOOO

One more time, everybody’s feeling fine, here we go now. Yes, yes, yes, here we go now.

Ok ok, I’ll stop with the N*SYNC throwback but the song felt warranted. We, as Ideaison, are back, and finally able to continue our dream of producing and creating RETROSPEKT LIVE.

We tried in Miami, and the timing wasn’t right. The market wasn’t stable, and it was a hard hit, but a necessary one. I’m not going to say it was easy. Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn.

A SETBACK IS A SETUP FOR A COMEBACK.

WE ARE BACK, BABY. Damn, does it feel good. What’s crazy, is the anticipation felt getting back in the game of creating an event, and the rush. I haven’t had this adrenaline hit me for a while. The worry & the butterflies. The tossing and turning in my sleep. But I’m doing it, and my powerful yet mighty team is structuring it in a way that can allow for growth and fostering of our community, by our community. I feel inspired to be able to truly build RETROSPEKT in my backyard of LA. It feels right and at home here. It feels poised for continuity and growth. I love this city and I am committed to building an event that I want to see, in a city that I want to be a part of. And to be able to showcase the artists who we are into and who deserve this shot, across mediums? That’s the DREAM. I am, simply put living my dream. I was put on this Earth to bring people together through creative expression and to stand behind causes I believe in. That rolled into an event, or an event series, is RETROSPEKT.

Welcome to 2022 and the official home of RETROSPEKT. It’s a quarterly series in the Fashion District of DTLA at Ground Level Studios.

Ground Level Studios is a dynamic film, photo, and event space dedicated to helping you create a unique experience. It felt destined for us. I mean look at it!

The TL:DR for those with goldfish brain:

  • 6+ hours of DOPE music from open to close. From the heavily curated sounds of Sisters of Sound’s Maddy Maia B2B Tottie to RM47 & MAAD to Life on Planets to SOHMI. There is no filler artist, every person playing is amazing and respected on their own accords. It’s STACKED.
  • We’ll have support and presence from To Write Love on Her Arms to address mental health awareness, along with Brogliebox which are for purchase mental health boxes. This is because breaking the stigma for mental health awareness is important to me and Ideaison. And the artists we support.
  • Some immersive & visual artists we worked with before for the Virtual Festival in 2020 are returning, other new ones are emerging. In addition to the space, we have our own blend of folks coming in to add that Ideaison special sauce.
  • DRINKS ARE INCLUDED IN THE TICKETS. Get your dance and drink on.
  • We’re giving you gifts. That’s all I will say there.

The truth about LA: It’s kind of a scary city to live in. It’s massive. There are so many ambitious folks trying to make their dreams happen. I whole heartedly had to make the decision to step into the ring in launching RETROSPEKT to consider myself as one of them. No guts, no glory. In a room full of nudists, no one is naked. But the beautiful part about this: it’s making me reflective on how much I have grown even since the launch of virtual festival in 2020 and how ready I am. In hind sight, 2020 provided more insight for me than I could have ever imagine. I met some of my dearest friends and creative partners, from Tom with L’Affaire Musicale who I adore as a person as much as a business owner, artist manager AND a huge supporter of Ideaison and RETROSPEKT. Not to mention our amazing publicists, who successfully publicize some of the biggest festivals in the world. And they’re all in our corner. We are the luckiest.

Above is a quick picture of the community you are supporting: me, Phil (Life on Planets) one of the artists on the bill, and Jaime Sloane our Publicist and owner of JSloane Creative, taken by our photographer Daniela Becera of Killed with Kindness, our photo/video team. All on site of Desert Hearts, where Phil was playing. Life is full circle. We can all uplift one another if we try.

I can’t wait to see you there, on the dance floor, immersed in art. It’s going to be SICK. Tickets are here and start at $17 all in. That’s the cost of a drink alone at some spots.

EVERYTHING IN RETROSPEKT. CHANGE STARTS WITH US.
