Here are some clues as to whether the interview has gone as well as you think.

?It is always tricky to know just how well you did at an interview and whether you are seriously considered for a job, but there are a few clues….

1) Did the employer ask when you can start work or how much notice you need to give at your current position?

2) Did the employer ask you, "When is the best time to reach you by telephone"?

3) Did the employer ask for references, review them with you, try to qualify your references, or check the best time to call them to indicate that they will be calling? Remember to alert your references to the upcoming call. Check with your references in a day or so to see if they got any calls.

4) Did the interviewer introduce you to any other person at the company, e.g., the employer might introduce another manager or colleague and say, this is X. He/she is applying for the XXX position. This hints that the employer is seriously interested but needs a second opinion.

5) Remember to close all interviews.

a) As you are rising to leave, please let the employer know that you are very interested in the position

b) Do indicate that based on the manager's job description, you are confident you will excel.

c) You are looking forward to hearing from him/her.

d) Please clarify when you can start this new job and state your notice period, which should be two weeks or whatever.

Pay attention to the way the manager closes the interview. Remember, "It was VERY nice meeting you, and you will hear from us soon. "This is a very good sign indeed!!

Great advice! Pay attention to whether the manager's questions are standard or attempts to expand on your resume.

It is easy to misread how well you did at the interview, it happens to managers too, they think they have found their perfect hire, then the person turns down their invite to a second interview.
