Here is the most effective tool I've used to elevate my leadership

A question for you: As a leader, what are the tools you are using in your day-to-day to help you lead better? Are you journaling, doing yoga, reading certain books, using AI tools, or task lists? Are there certain apps you use?

?I’ve got one for you – it is breathwork. Specifically, I practice Hypnobreathwork on a daily basis to help me clear out blocks so that I can move confidently through my day and be a more intuitive leader.

Today, I want to share how breathwork has helped me be a better leader, overall.

I first discovered this tool at a mastermind I attended in early 2023. It had such a profound impact on me that a few months later, I decided to become a certified coach and facilitator of Hypnobreathwork.

So, what is it? I love how my teacher, and the creator of Hypnobreathwork, Francesca Sipma , explains this work. She describes it as a modern tool that is efficient, effective and results driven. We combine the Breath (Spirit) with Hypnosis (vocal guidance) and Visioning (mental rehearsal) to lead you to an Intuitive Action.?

It is efficient because, unlike meditation, you are quickly able to drop into gentle, trance-induced states of mind within the first four minutes, just by focusing on the breath. It is effective because the light hypnosis, along with verbal cues help inspire visioning so that you can see and feel the thing you are working to unblock. It is results driven because your intuition guides you on your next action steps, and as long as you take them, you begin to see results.?

Efficient. Effective. Results Driven. These are all things leaders need to be on a daily basis. Am I right?

This is life changing stuff, and here is how it has helped me be a better leader.

  • I have extreme mental clarity like I’ve never experienced before, and the more often I practice breathwork, the clearer I become on my mission and purpose.
  • I trust myself and my decisions. I have historically, been a people pleaser and someone who relied on others to show me the way, but now I confidently make decisions on my own. No question.
  • I sleep better. My mind is not always spinning, so I can lay down in my bed and fall soundly asleep. I won’t go into the research on sleep, but just know it is vitally important to our health and wellbeing, which is in turn, vitally important to our leadership.
  • My relationships are richer. Breathwork helps you connect to your intuition, which connects you with your God-given purpose. In turn, purpose gives you presence in your own life. For me, being able to be much more present in my interactions with loved ones and those I work with has made my relationships more rich because I am “in the moment” and in the experience of whatever we are doing, instead of focusing on other things.
  • I act intuitively, instead of frantically. Being in touch with your intuition and knowing how to access that, helps you act from a place of knowing – aka your gut. In other words, I am so connected to my intuition and to my own body, that I know when something doesn’t feel good, or when something feels really good. Then, I can act on that and not be attached to the outcome.
  • My empathy and compassion are on another level, as is my patience. As I meet with team members and even other leaders, or work with those who are going through something I went through years ago, I can actually lead with my heart. What this means is that instead of telling them what they should do, I listen first, we talk through it, and then I am able to give encouragement from a place of love. What this looks like: Instead of, “Wait! I know your problem. My experience tells me you should do this.” I say, “Tell me more about this. I really want to understand what is happening so I can guide you in the ways you need help.” Then, I share my journey, if that is appropriate.
  • I am more efficient. I get stuck a lot. I admit it. I am good at procrastinating, even as an effective leader. When I go into breath, it’s a different story. I am going to explain this one below.

There are many days when I’m sitting at my desk, feeling overwhelmed with all the things on my plate. If I have an overwhelming task list, I will do a quick session (20-23 minutes) and come out of the session with a prioritized list and the energy and focus I need to accomplish it.

This is because the breathwork helps you see what is important and then prioritize it, literally giving you your next action steps. It also helps create flow and meaning to whatever you’re about to go do.

One more story...?

I recently facilitated a breathwork session for a leader who told me that their energy felt stuck. They knew they had lots to do in their business, but their mindset wasn’t there lately – no motivation.

In the session I used verbal cues to help them clear out that stagnate energy and call in renewed energy and focus. This session resulted in positive energy flow, and this leader stated they felt grounded, connected, and ready to get to work on their business. I even received a message a few days later with the leader letting me know the energy was still there and that they were focused, clear and committed to the path forward.

Energy renewed. Focused. Clarity.

Breathwork has changed the way I lead because it has increased my capacity to lead as the best version of myself. I have clarity and trust, I get great sleep, I have rich relationships, I take intuitive action, I am an empathetic leader, and I am more efficient than ever.

For my daily sessions, I use the Mastry app, which was also created by Francesca Sipma. There are over 80 sessions geared towards different topics to help you clear blocks and take action. You will have to check it out!

Is Hypnobreathwork a tool you could use to help boost your leadership? Let me know what you think, and I’d love to answer any questions you may have.

We’re almost to the weekend! You’ve got this and I am cheering you on.
