1. Don't just focus on grabbing attention at all costs visibility and virality are not equivalent to brand love and sales.
2. Don't lose your existing customers to acquire new ones. Don't fall for the trap of bleeding money to get new customers. Investing in customer support and delight brings more new customers than investing in sales and marketing.
3. Don't fall in love with your product. You might have created it out of your own need, but once it's in the market, keep it open for the customer's scrutiny. If your target customer says it's sh*t, then it probably is.
4. Not everything can be sold by exploiting emotions. Sometimes, the problem is so real that direct and straight communication can just work fine. But out of habit marketers start cooking stories and complicate the communication.
5. Don't try too hard to market the product if it is not taking of after a lot of hustle. It's the wrong or a bad product probably. The more you market these products the sooner they will die.
