We surveyors are burdened by a system that requires us to get up to 15 hours per year. Many of us think this is too much. Our helpful professional organization spends a lot of our money to bring us seminars, but in my opinion, these are WAY too costly. Hopefully that is changing. In the meanwhile, ask your local prof org chapter to help you get clarification from the Board on how many hours you can get online. What are the characteristics of online courses that make them allowable over 3 hours per year? Is it if there is a test involved? Is it that there has to be the ability to ask questions during the online course? As I recall despite many, MANY discussions in the local professional organization chapter meetings (I've been to well over a hundred in the last 15 years), it is very difficult to get a solid answer on this very important and relevant question. Can anyone out there help me understand: How many of our contuing ed course can we get online? The reason we want to know is because the ones online can be much more economical than traveling to a conventional seminar. An important tragedy to consider is how many older surveyors have given up their licenses in the last 20 years because the continuing ed requirement is BURDENSOME: thus cutting down on the number of surveyors working, which is raising havoc in the real estate, law and title communities RIGHT NOW! Did someone shoot ourselves in the foot?
