Even those of us who live and breathe interior design need some inspiration and guidance. In an ideal world, we'd have an interior designer on speed dial to give advice on everything from deciding where and how to hang a new wall art to fashioning a layout for a small space.
So, here are some design secrets i want to share with you which doesn't require you to buy fancy & expensive things to make your space look good. Just some intelligent hacks!
1. Cut pre made tile for a custom look. You can buy leftover tiles from a lot (which will cost you half the price or even lesser) and cut into smaller sizes of those same tiles to make patterned flooring.
2. Wallpaper your appliances. To make your ugly appliances look good and different from usual, you can buy peel & stick wallpaper and cover your fridge, microwave, oven, etc.
3. Play with pattern. You can mix colour and pattern that'll push the envelope but still remain stylish and authentic.
4. Fake a window using mirrors. In a basement room with no windows, you can combine two mirrors to fake a window. It brightens up the space and makes it look bigger.
5. Give stainless steel a matt finish. You'll love how this matt finish surface will interact with light, it is soft, subtle and welcoming.

7. Make your own art. If you are someone who always wanted to try painting and craft, your home is the right place to start from, with this you will have your own personal touch on the walls for guests to admire.
8. Bring multifunctional furniture outdoors. Small outdoor ceramic stools are great pieces of furniture that perform double duty. They can be used as extra seating or when placed close to a chair or sofa, can serve as an additional surface to place your laptop during working hours or for small plates of food during an outdoor hangout.
9. Reuse what you already own or go ahead and use old and new belonging together. A mix of modern pieces and antiques never tires.
10. Don't be afraid to DIY. If you have the skill and the technology go ahead and do it yourself! All your favourite designers were self-taught!
