Here Are The Atlanta Super Bowl Parties You Don’t Want to Miss

Super Bowl week has taken on a life of its own. Let’s just say things have come a long way since the last time the game was in Atlanta in 2000, when the Commissioners Ball was just about the only party in town. In fact, it was that year that Playboy hosted their first-ever party at a small bar in Buckhead called Tongue and Groove. Nowadays, the game is literally just the cherry on top of the sundae of a long week of parties and events, each more exclusive and desirable than the last. Scoring a ticket to one of these parties can be a bigger coup than getting into the game itself. This year, it seems just about everyone is planning a bash in Atlanta. Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, Mike Vick and even Shaq are hosting events. With hundreds of parties and events to choose from, here are the ones I would recommend.

Rolling Stone’s Big Game Weekend Event

Date: February 2

Location: The Goat Farm

Performers: Ludacris and Questlove as well as a curated lineup of old and new Atlanta artists, playing homage to the city’s rich musical history.

I can’t believe it has been eight years since Rolling Stone came on to the scene with a big-time splash in Indianapolis. They still seem like a newcomer to the show, but they have quickly established themselves as one of the absolute best parties, if not the top event at the Super Bowl. It’s always been one of my favorites, and this year’s 1,500+ person event will be attended by the who’s who of the weekend – sports stars, celebrities, influencers, VIP fans, industry executives and more.

Maxim Big Game Experience

Date: Saturday, February 2

Location: The Fairmont, West Midtown

Performers: Future, Jamie Foxx and Diplo

Playboy may have been the first to host a Super Bowl party, but Maxim has been around for nearly as long. They have spent millions of dollars over the years, sparing no expense to create a great event brand. Things have definitely changed quite a bit since their heyday, but it’s still a solid party, and one of the best. I’ll never forget their 2003 Super Bowl event in San Diego, where every celebrity under the sun showed up and made this party unforgettable – Dennis Rodman, Vince Vaughn and Paris Hilton were all in attendance. Maxim also offered automatic spots on the guest list to any Hall-of-Famer and Pro Bowl alum, so everywhere you looked, there they were. Although it’s not what it once was, you still can’t go wrong with an invite to the Maxim Party.

DirecTV Super Saturday Night

Date: Saturday, February 2

Location: Atlantic Station

Performer: Foo Fighters

I mean, it’s the Foo Fighters – enough said. DirecTV’s parties have definitely become one of the premier events during Super Bowl week. Over the years, they have spent tons to secure top talent. One of my favorite DirecTV events was their 2013 party in New Orleans. Justin Timberlake was the headliner, so you know it wasn’t an ordinary event. A tent outfitted with crystal chandeliers set the atmosphere for the invitation-only event, which was a combination of concert and party. To top it off, the entire event was a fundraiser for the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Sports Illustrated Saturday Night Lights

Date: Saturday, February 2

Location: College Football Hall of Fame

Performers: Snoop Dogg and DJ Aire

Sports Illustrated is getting back into the party game after a few years off the circuit. SI at one time was one of the top three parties at Super Bowl. Their event at Super Bowl in Houston in 2004, which celebrated the magazine’s 50th anniversary, was legendary. Sports Illustrated swimsuit models were on hand to promote the magazine’s annual swimsuit issue. LL Cool J and supermodel Molly Sims co-hosted, and everyone else clamored to get into the party alongside the likes of Jerry Rice, Beyoncé and Roger Clemens. I trust SI to get it right again this year.
