The Her-Story of Elizabeth Taylor's Only Hawaii Estate - How Did Villa Elizabeth Happen? By Kathy Ireland
It is a great joy to recall the memories of Tommy Meharey, leading our team at kathy ireland Weddings and Resorts, in renovating the beach property, Villa Elizabeth in Hawaii, for our beloved Elizabeth Taylor, who adored and loved the estate.
Our Global Creative Director, Jon Carrasco and I worked intimately and daily with Dame Elizabeth and Tommy, to accomplish a total renovation in just six weeks, from our purchase to Dame Elizabeth's first arrival, complete with traveling jewel safes, police escorts, sirens blaring and some of the most magnificent resort, swim and fashion couture, ever seen. Gifts for all.
Elizabeth guided us on what was wanted and needed in the home. Elizabeth chose the color palette of Spun Sunlight in Venetian Plaster for the exterior, Koa wood floors with stark, snow white walls adorned by world class art, including a gift of one of the iconic Warhol "Liz" works of art . Elizabeth's bath is hand tiled with aqua tiles installed by Tommy and flown to Hawaii from Venice, Italy. Incredibly, Elizabeth insisted on installing some of the tiles personally.
"It's so beautiful and so much fun!" Elizabeth squealed with delight upon the first inspection. The thrill never lessened.. Summer vacations. Christmas. Family retreats all happened here. Villa Elizabeth is a monument to beauty and love. Please experience a space designed for true royalty.
If you're intrigued to learn more about the extraordinary her-story of Villa Elizabeth, please connect with Tommy Meharey, the youngest member of our kathy ireland Worldwide Board of Directors. You may reach Tommy at any time here at LinkedIn. Thank you for allowing us to share our beautiful memories of one of the world's most beautiful, loving, amazing women. There will never be anyone like Elizabeth Taylor.
