Her Confidence Changed Her Salary & Position

Her Confidence Changed Her Salary & Position

I am presenting a case study of my client Debra. I believe after sharing her story I will prove to you how a raise in self-confidence leads to a raise in your career.

When I first began working with Debra (name has been changed for confidentiality) she was a professional woman who was in a depression in life and career, due to traumatic events that had taken place in her personal life the previous 2 years.?

She had to take off, then quit her ?government job (working for the mayor) after?losing her husband and father in tragic deaths the same year. ?She was not able to bounce back as quickly as she’d thought and had given up hope of ever being able to restore herself to her former life. She had been out of work for 18 months and had recently taken on a very part-time job at a medium sized hotel, just to bring in some income. She was at a place called “Stuck”.

The first thing I ask all my clients are “What is your ideal career?” Most say, “oh anything better than where I am." I encourage them to dig deeper, list the qualities they need and desire in their next positions. Once we get clear on that, I help map out a plan to get us there.

I knew immediately that Debra needed a confidence boost, a trusted friend to listen and allow her to go through all the phases of grief and newness that this journey brings, and someone to push her when she wants to quit, and to affirm her.

We started by rehashing her resume to rebrand her and truly showcase her skills and talents. I probed her for the actual tasks she accomplished and performed at her former positions and even used the transferable skills from the hotel job to boost her new resume to reflect the position she wanted.

I was astonished at how her resume and her lack of self confidence was selling her short. I showed her, as I do with all my clients, how she measured next to higher level positions. This always brings AHA moments, as we tend to see our greatness as not so great, because we are too close to ourselves.

Within 3 months of weekly sessions Ms. Debra landed an interview, then an offer with a very prestigious risk management firm. She went from 8.00/hr at the hotel to a 65k salary. She followed up with me 3 months later and she had been promoted to a higher position and her salary went to 85k! Yes…seriously!

Honestly, this is the norm for those that I work with. I help clients transform their self-image & secure their dream jobs. No, I’m not a magician, I just tell you the truth. I then prove to you why what I see in you is true vs what you may believe about yourself. The most important thing that I do during coaching, is help my clients?transform their self-image and develop leadership skills.

I have worked with Ph.D’s, MBA’s, and CEO’s, PMP’s, RN’s, SDR’s and everything in between. What they all have in common is?mental blocks and limiting beliefs, that causes them to not see themselves in a positive or productive way. I hope I have painted the picture clear enough for you. How you see yourself determines how far you can go. You will not go any further than what you believe about yourself.

If you want to work on your confidence and leadership skills, I encourage you to?sign up for an intro coaching session with me. I take my job seriously and know that my purpose is to help other transform their lives. Your job is to say yes to yourself and to the opportunity.?
