HENSOLDT Newsflash – August 2024
As a classic holiday month, August is traditionally a little quieter. But at HENSOLDT we have not been idle in recent months either: In addition to new major orders for the German Armed Forces, we also celebrated the 50th anniversary of the first Tornado flight in Germany. As always, you will find all the highlights summarised in our monthly newsletter.
Further fire control sight order for the German Armed Forces
HENSOLDT has received a further order for the delivery of "Dynahawk" fire control sights (FLV). The customer is the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw).
The order includes deliveries this year and next, with an option for further systems in 2026. The order is worth several million euros. HENSOLDT has already supplied fire control sights in previous years.
Surveillance with HENSOLDT Bushbaby 100
Ranging from security agencies, police departments, mining companies or military forces: Various organisations and institutions have the need for reliable surveillance systems to do their daily work properly.
Thus, our team of HENSOLDT South Africa has developed Bushbaby100, an electro-optical system for armoured vehicles, UGVs, patrol vehicles and stationary applications at an extraordinary price-performance ratio.

Further TRS-4D radars for German Navy F126 frigates
HENSOLDT has received a further order from Thales for the delivery of TRS-4D naval radars for the German Navy's F126 frigates. This brings the total order value to more than 200 million euros.
The initial order placed in 2022 comprised the delivery of TRS-4D naval radars for four Niedersachsen-class frigates (F126) and a radar segment for the test centre. Due to the expansion, two further F126 frigates will be equipped. The TRS-4D naval radar from HENSOLDT will be installed in its non-rotating version with four fixed antenna arrays.
50th anniversary of the first flight of the Tornado fighter
Congratulations to the Tornado aircraft on half a century in service!
14 August 2024 has marked the 50th anniversary of the first flight of the Tornado fighter in the South-German city of Manching.
HENSOLDT and its predecessors have contributed to this aircraft over the past decades. Even though the number of active aircraft will gradually reduce from 2025, the aircraft will remain in service until the end of the decade, and we stand ready to continue our support until the last Tornado is decommissioned.
