The Hem of His Garment
When we worship, we are saying that we have no power of our own to save ourselves from sin and death. We are also saying that God is everything. He is holy, righteous, just, loving, etc., etc., etc.... We admit before God that we need constant reminders of who God is and what His commands are. Recognizing who Jesus Christ is and who we are (sinners) and touching the hem of His garment is the position of our heart and attitude. The hem of Jesus’ garment is called the Tekhelet, which means ‘finished’. The woman with the issue of blood knew to touch the hem of His garment, she had revelation that she was touching the finished work of Jesus. The word translated "edge" in Luke 8:44 is Greek kraspedon, meaning "edge, border, hem" of a garment Matthew 14:35-36 NKJV “And when the men of that place recognized Him, they sent out into all that surrounding region, brought to Him all who were sick, and begged Him that they might only touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched it were made perfectly well.” The importance which the later Jews, especially the Pharisees, attached to the hem or fringe of their garments was founded upon the regulation in Numbers 15:38-39 NKJV which gave a symbolical meaning to it. “Speak to the children of Israel: Tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a blue thread in the tassels of the corners. And you shall have the tassel, that you may look upon it and remember all the commandments of the Lord and do them, and that you may not follow the harlotry to which your own heart and your own eyes are inclined, and that you may remember and do all My commandments, and be holy for your God.”
?????????????? When we worship, teach, and preach in corporate worship we enter an attitude of humble worship before God. Our hearts must be low to the ground, our eyes looking up, and our hands should be reaching out to touch in desperation. John 4:23-24 "But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."
?????????????? Worship is not about going to church with your family. It is not about checking a box. The deed is not as important as the heart attitude to worship God. Worshipping Saints of God (those who are born again with the perfect blood of Jesus Christ) know their smallness and know the greatness of God. The majesty of God must be proclaimed as much as possible. Worship is not an optional item in the Christian life. It is a relevant and crucial part of a practicing saint of God. ?Is your heart down low? Is it in a position of awe? Is your heart trembling, because of the great God you serve? Is your heart reaching out to touch the holiness of God knowing He has the power to make you whole?
