The Job Market’s Growth Slowdown
In April 2024, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported employers added 175,000 jobs. Hiring grew at its slowest pace since October 2023. April’s employment increase was below the 12-month average monthly gain of 242,000. Dow Jones projected jobs would increase by 240,000. The national unemployment rate increased from 3.8% to 3.9%, according to the BLS.
Last month, Rose International saw continued demand for workers in the temporary help services sector. The organization had the most job openings in its IT, business professional and admin/clerical categories.
Serving America’s Service Members
The national veteran unemployment rate was 3.2% in April 2024, an increase from 3% in March 2024. To compare, this level was 2.2% in April 2023. There are 18 million veterans living in the United States and under half of that total are in the workforce.
