Help your patients and your team by considering less aggressive post-op protocols where the patient is encouraged to decrease ambulation the first 2 weeks post op to decrease peak leg swelling and improve the rate of recovery.

2 年Simple and effective Andrew Wickline !
With the advent of modern implants/techniques, outpatient paradigms, and advanced pain management modalities, the temptation is to be super aggressive with early activity in TKA pts. We’ve seen it in some of our own studies. Simple, practical guidelines like this combined with clear and thoughtful patient education can promote great outcomes. Appreciate all you’ve done for the field, Andrew Wickline

2 年This protocol really works. Each patients are told to be agressive when they get out of the hospital. For all those, I change completely the approach to this (what I call the ??Wickline protocol). I have been doing this for the past 2 years. Patients are more satisfied Patients take less pain medication Better functional results Thanks again Dr Wickline and you team.
