Helping Those Behind You on the Ladder
It's like counting the stars in the sky when trying to determine how many Podcasts are active these days, isn't it? If there is a topic, there is a group that wishes to discuss it. I can't believe how this medium has flourished in the past four years!
My first podcast encounter was with a lovely woman in New Zealand, Kirsty Salisbury, who asked me to be on her program focusing on Near-Death Experiences. This became my introduction to Zoom meetings, and I soon learned how to determine what time I was expected to attend one of these if my Host was on the other side of the planet.
It was like becoming a Hollywood starlet, except I had no crew to assist me with makeup, lighting and background prep. I rigged up lights from a hardware store, staged some furniture and a plant behind me, and put on extra lipstick. Only later did I discover the "Background Effects" in the Zoom app, and once, when I got bored waiting for a host, got stuck in a Rabbit Avatar just before the program aired. Needless to say, the Host was shocked, but amused, and helped me "morph" back into a human.
Fast forward - after four years of learning the ropes, meeting Podcast Hosts from around the world, and in many different cultures, I find myself relaxing a bit. I've been a guest on over 150 podcasts and two of them have garnered well over a million "Views". It is mind-boggling and I am incredibly grateful!
After my Distressing Near-Death Experience in very early 2000, I was compelled to write my memoir. It took twenty years to accomplish this mission and then I thought, "Now what?" That's when I got the phone call from Kirsty, who was one of the first well-known hosts in my field.

Now I feel fortunate as I receive invitations to be a guest on fledgling podcasts, whereas in the past I celebrated the invites of well-known and popular ones. In this business, as in all of life, we are constantly climbing a "ladder". We all start at Ground Zero and then up we go. I believe we are given the opportunity to help those behind us, as those above us continue to lend a hand.
We are all in this together. Combining our skills, knowledge and experience is an honorable and spiritual endeavor. Let's play down our differences, accentuate our humanity, and bring everyone "up the ladder", no matter what the situation.

I've had the opportunity to speak with other people who have gone through such a mind-altering experience. It changes a person, having that little taste of heaven. It is truly amazing how information can travel these days. And you are right, I hope it brings people together on their life journey.
