Helping Teams to be Motivated

Team effectiveness is an important predictor of an organisation’s performance and growth. Teams are designed with the aim of encouraging collaboration and innovation which contributes significantly towards organisations’ success. A diverse set of people coming together to work may require not just a structure and form to function efficiently, but also mechanisms and support that strengthen collaborative functioning.

It is therefore important to understand the underlying mechanisms for motivating teams for organisational effectiveness. Below are some things to keep in mind to motivate your teams:

  • Share the vision and goals of the organisation. It helps to set the direction which delivers and instills a sense of purpose in each team member.   • Create a safe and healthy environment for working. Enabling healthy working conditions can be an important factor in fostering motivation. An environment which is stimulating can help in enhancing motivation.

Teams need to have the right structure, size, understanding of their roles and responsibilities, alongside their decision making capabilities to function effectively. It helps to empower each team member and make their efforts count. It's concurrently important to ensure they can reach you for support when they find themselves stuck or unsure of the ways in which they can solve for the situations confronting them. All of these aspects collectively can help take care of the levels of motivation that teams can and do have within the organization.
