Helping start-up founders in Huntsville
“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy,” Ginger Harper , Sr. Vice President, Private Banking Group Mgr. of First Horizon Bank, explains. “They support almost half of the American workforce.”
And First Horizon Bank is dedicated to helping these small businesses. One of the ways the company helps is by supporting groups like gBeta, a start-up incubator in Huntsville, Alabama.
We talked to some of the people in the cohort -- including ?? Ruth YOung-LOaeza? Ergonomic Biomedical Patented Linens , inventor of Neet Sheets, and Joshua Morrow and Lucas Bahn of Player Intro -- as well as Sierra P , Director of gBETA Huntsville, to find out what life is like inside the incubator.
Why Andrew Szymanski decided to stay in Alabama
After graduating from the University of Georgia, Andrew Szymanski moved to Montgomery in 2010 as a member of the AmeriCorps VISTA program. He worked with Bridge Builders Alabama, a youth leadership development program that works with high school juniors and seniors to help them prepare for college and teach them how to be servant leaders in their communities. As part of that year of service, he also helped that organization create a large-scale fundraiser — the Montgomery Dragon Boat Festival.
