“Helping people live longer, healthier and bring joy into our life” Dr. Rab, VP & CIO Hackensack University Medical Center

Wow. Thank you Dr. Rab, because I don’t think we can find a better way to describe the power of digital. In the last few months I’ve talked a lot about health care and the potential benefits that technology, specifically digital, can bring. So we at Persistent are incredibly excited to announce the work we are doing with Hackensack University Medical Center in Bergen, New Jersey. Hackensack has gained tremendous attention for its ground breaking work around patient care, so needless to say, we’re thrilled to be a partner in its digital transformation journey.

Part of the reason for the attention has been the leadership of Hackensack senior vice president and CIO Dr. Shafiq Rab. He’s recognized as a true industry visionary, which made him a perfect partner for us in creating software-driven healthcare solutions.

In 2015 the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) named Dr. Rab innovator of the year, recognizing his position at the forefront of adopting technology solutions arming clinicians and patients with information that can help them make better decisions, as well as reduce healthcare costs. But don’t listen to me, hear from Dr. Rab himself.

HackensackUMC is just one of many healthcare organizations we’ve worked with around the world, where the opportunity to radically improve the doctor/patient experience though Software 4.0 is at hand. Software-driven and agile, but more importantly Software 4.0 is about a mindset of continuous discovery and delivering digital or software driven-experiences be design, basically the how if continuous transformation by design.

As is often the case, the Hackensack solution looks at how to analyze the enormous amount of data available, combined with ways to make it more easily accessible and actionable. For example, HackensackUMC is one of the first health systems in the US to link patient-generated data from personal fitness devices and mobile apps to its electronic medical record, enabling clinicians to have a more complete view of a patient’s history. HackensackUMC also introduced the HackensackUMC Mobile Access app, which allows users to look up symptoms, find doctors, make appointments and receive reminders for upcoming appointments.

I hope your lives are filled with joy!
