Helping old couple in flood area

Went down to Kedah, Malaysia last week, to visit a sick relative and to help clear the mess left over by the flood (water level about 1.5 meter). There are 3 buffalos, 11 goats, over 30 chickens, squirrels, iguanas, and others. These animals just wondered freely in the big field and there is a river next to the house. We have to cross the bridge everytime to get to the house. When i arrived at the house, i saw plants up rooted, pots broken, books damaged, ovens, wash machines, refrigerator were all muddied. The old lady exchanged greetings with me. When i went in, i noticed clothings, broken bed, and things were all over the places. And Kitchen smell bad, with rubbishes, all over the places. i saw the old man in the room. He complained of lower back ache. i quickly took out a hot balm and massaged his back and head. He was so satisfied because no one had ever given him a massage for years. i went in to the kitchen to clear up all the rubbishes to get rid of the smell. Then washed all the dishes and placed them in orderly manner in the kitchen shelves and table tops. went out to the balcony and cleared all the fallen plants and broken pots. swept the balcony clean and flushed with garden water hose. those surviving plants and pots were placed in orderly manner. Books, wooden stuffs were thrown to a burning area. plastics bottles and stuffs in another area. Reactiveted 2 fans, one micocrowave and one oven. Fridge and wash-machine is not working, due to the parts still wet inside. Reactivated the old Grandfather's wooden clock in the living area. i stayed for 3 days, doing whatever possible to make things normal again for the old couple, in their 80s. i massaged the old man every morning and once in evening before bedtime. The old lady cannot see far or read papers, and almost cannot see anything at night. We were lucky, a relative came by to take us out for dinner and we buy lunch at nearby stalls. There are so many variety of street food. Wow. i love them all. The old lady makes good coffee. we are able to have some cooked food becuase the gas cooker is still working and the ovens are working. Helping out and making the old folks happy, gave me a feeling of satisfaction. And staying in the farm is really different experience, from the city, where i live. i got to hear the frogs/toads croaking and insects making noises at night. In morning, about past 4am, it is the cockerels that crows so loudly. The birds chirping and singing can also be heard later. Before i left the house, back to Singapore, i gave them some medicines and balms and instructed them how to use and consume. And the old couple's son and wife is coming the same evening from Australia. Btw, the house is next to a padi field. Its soothing to look at.

Padi field just outside the house. the flood water is still there. Normally, the padi field is green.

2 buffalos in river, one in shed. children playing next to river, not in picture. goats roaming around eating grass, chickens pecking bits and pieces from the ground. 3 cars, 1 truck and 2 motobikes, parked next to neighbours house.

Market place is crowded. Fresh fish, prawns beef, muttons, all kinds of cooked food, fruits, etc. complete with all kinds of drinks.
