National Skills Plan Overview

The newly released National Skills Plan outlines Skills Ministers’ vision for the national vocational education and training (VET) system and the approach to achieving the shared goals of the 5- year National Skills Agreement. The plan was developed in collaboration with states and territories, with input from Jobs and Skills Councils, Jobs and Skills Australia, the Coalition of Peaks, and government.

The new stewardship model will support governments to work collaboratively and:

● provides context on the current skills and training landscape and the delivery of national reforms.

ANZSCO round 4 submission

Our submission to the Australian Bureau of Statistics round 4 of the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO)?consultation includes feedback from industry to propose and endorse various changes to automotive occupations.?

As a JSC, we primarily use ANZSCO to develop our Workforce Plan. We analyse ANZSCO's unit group and occupation levels, along with employment and occupation data, to differentiate between occupations, as some may not be specific to one industry or may fall within larger, non-exclusive unit groups.?

In our submission and Workforce Plan 2024, we highlighted that switching to electrification is both a challenge and an opportunity for the industry, which should be reflected. It affects ABS workforce data and NCVER apprenticeship data, which rely on ANZSCO's structure.
