Help Your Students Beat The First-Day Jitters

Help Your Students Beat The First-Day Jitters

Here’s How to Make it Easier for Your Students to Make Friends

As early childhood teachers, your job during the first few weeks is to ensure students feel comfortable and happy during the school day.?

School can be very intimidating and overwhelming, especially for kids who are first-timers.

So, as teachers, here are a few ways to help your students adapt to their new routines!?

  • During the first week, create a buddy system where the kids pair up with a new student and spend every day together.
  • Give the students different daily responsibilities to help you and your peers out.
  • Read books about meeting new friends and going to school.
  • Set expectations with the parents. Many parents like to hover and stick around when their child is upset at school. Have a plan to help the child and the parent feel at ease on the first day.

By incorporating these strategies and a few “ice-breaker” activities, your students will have an easier time making new friends and adapting to their new routines.?
