Help! We’re stuck.

Help! We’re stuck.

And there we were stranded in the middle of the desert.

The driver got out and checked the tyres. He then proceeded to do exactly the same thing. Put the car into gear, occasionally grinding the gear box then forced the accelerator as far into the footwell as possible and turned the steering wheel. Guess what? Yes, the car just sank further into the hot Egyptian sand.

So I got out. Looked. Took a picture. And then WhatsApp’d our group “HELP. We’re stuck.”

Shortly after assistance arrived. They towed us out. And we carried on to the Miracle Lake, the whale museum and the beautiful scenery.

The link to recruitment

But SO many people are struggling with recruitment right now. Yet they don’t know who can help them. Or they are reluctant to ask.

I get it though. Because many of us struggle to ask for help. Or we feel that we may waste somebody’s time. Since setting up my own business though I have had to learn when, how and who to ask for help. It’s not easy but the consequences of not asking means that it will lead to more misery which I am desperate to avoid.

Recently I helped a company diagnose their recruitment challenges and the impact was profound. I identified two fundamental issues; firstly, they struggled to attract the right people and secondly, they were providing a sub-optimal recruitment experience and on-boarding.

It goes without saying that you can have the best recruitment journey but if you have no people who are about to join your company it’s worthless. So attracting the right people was imperative in this situation.

I diagnosed their job advert and made tangible recommendations. Undoubtedly this change had the most profound impact on their recruitment.

Following this success they improved their recruitment process, communication and on-boarding based upon my recommendations.

For interest these are the top three issues which impact the success of recruitment campaigns:

  1. Poorly written job advert.
  2. Candidate screening.
  3. Communication.

These are other factors but usually not as prevalent as one to three:

  • Advertise on the wrong platforms.
  • Not engaging with passive candidates.
  • How you engage with passive candidates.
  • Not knowing your target audience.
  • Timing.
  • Recruitment process.
  • On-boarding experience.

This is why I am now offering a 60 minute consultation to diagnose your exact problems and to improve your chances of success. I will tell you exactly where it is going wrong, what you can do and how you can fix it. Please note there is a small charge for this service but I am confident that it will have a profound impact on your recruitment campaign.

My final thoughts

It’s easy to accept the situation. But this will feel like Groundhog Day.

And we all think that we will be judged by our inability to solve the problem. However I can reassure you that I’m genuinely here to help you and not judge. Because I love solving problems and that’s all recruitment is.

The hardest part of this will be reaching out. Sending me an email. Or picking up the phone but rest assured that you’ll be supported and I’ll do as much as possible.

Here’s the feedback from a person who had not looked for a job in 15 years and didn’t know how to go about their search. However my support has enabled them to find their dream job as a Finance Director.

Whilst you’re here

I just wanted to say thank you to all of the people who introduced me to a hiring manager in the last two weeks. Because building your own business is a REALLY tough gig. Everybody needs help right. And as I say above you just have to ask. So thank you once again for your support. It's appreciated.

Talk next week and never be afraid to ask for help whatever the situation.

That whale museum is amazing. I think it says some much about "perspectives"
