Help Vulnerable Children in Kenya | Balancing The Scales

Kisumu County is one of the poorest regions in Kenya, with the 3rd highest HIV/AIDS prevalence in the country at the high rate of 19.3%. It is estimated that 30-40% of babies born to HIV positive mothers are infected with HIV.

However, Hope for Children are working hard to drop these rates and create a better life for each child and their families.

Just recently, Hope for Children announced their newest project in Kenya…

They have been chosen to take over from the incredible charity, AiDS ORPHAN , and their vital work of supporting Early Childhood Development Centres in Kenya!

Aids Orphan was founded by Prof. Ian Govendir in 2009 and has worked across the globe to support children and families who have been affected by HIV/AIDS.

Their work has made an incredible difference for so many vulnerable children and families, and now Hope for Children carry the torch so wonderfully lit by Aids Orphan.

So, what will Hope for Children be doing exactly?

Hope for Children will be supporting the Early Childhood Development Centres with in-country partners, CIVS (Centre for international Voluntary Service in Kenya) in two of the most vulnerable regions of Kenya: Ahero and Awach.

They will be targeting over 200 orphaned and vulnerable children across 6 classes living in vulnerable circumstances; many still affected by the legacy of HIV.

The centres provide quality early childhood services to promote the intellectual, physical, and social developmental needs of the children aged 2-5 years old.

Additionally, their nutritional needs will be prioritized in order to tackle the high mortality rate of children under the age of 5 in Kisumu County.

And the good news is…

That YOU can help Hope for Children in this next adventure.

But, how?
