Help Us Save Lives: Seeking Board Treasurer for Hold My Guns? Nonprofit
Hold My Guns?
Saving Lives, Protecting Property, Preserving Rights: Voluntary firearms storage program through partnering FFLs.
After several years of faithful service to the mission Hold My Guns?, our Board Treasurer Paul Jones is retiring. We are so grateful for his service and wish Mr. Jones the best! Board President David Hess is serving as our interim Treasurer, as permitted by our by-laws. We invite qualified candidates to thoughtfully consider applying for this vital position on our team.
Hold My Guns? is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the firearms community dedicated to saving lives, protecting property, and preserving rights. We partner with Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs) to provide voluntary firearms storage during times of need, connect gun owners with resources to reduce suicide risk factors, and promote firearms safety, self-governance, and life-affirming choices through outreach and education.
Our liberty-focused mission affirms the inviolable rights enshrined in the U.S. Constitution, including the Second Amendment and due process protections of the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments. We uphold the Supreme Court decision in District of Columbia v. Heller (2008), which recognized the individual right to bear arms for self-defense and struck down restrictive firearm storage laws that hinder lawful self-defense.
We believe that firearms save lives, as highlighted by the 2021 National Firearms Survey, which estimates that firearms are used defensively in approximately 1.67 million incidents annually. However, the lethality of firearms, while essential for personal defense, underscores the importance of addressing suicide prevention within the firearms community. In 2021, 54% of the 48,830 firearm-related deaths in the U.S. were suicides (CDC). With a lethality rate of 85-90% for suicide by firearm compared to 1-15% for other methods, firearm community-driven suicide prevention efforts that promote voluntary measures, personal responsibility, and protective factors are vital.
Hold My Guns? champions a total ownership approach to life, emphasizing personal responsibility for firearms, physical and mental health, and self-defense. We believe the firearms community is a powerful protective factor and a cornerstone of a free society.
Although founded for the prevention of suicide, Hold My Guns? supports gun owners through a variety of life circumstances, including:
Hold My Guns? provides liberty-based, voluntary, and dignified solutions that respect individual rights, equip personal responsibility, and foster strong community support.
