Help neighbors in need by donating blood

On Wednesday morning, May 25, Carter BloodCare and fellow U.S. blood centers LifeServe Blood Center , The Community Blood Center , The Blood Center , The Blood Connection , Vitalant , SunCoast Blood Centers , Rock River Valley Blood Center , COMMUNITY BLOOD CENTER OF THE OZARKS , and Miller-Keystone Blood Center sent units of O negative blood to South Texas to support urgent hospital requests, following the horrific and heartbreaking crisis in Uvalde, Texas.

These centers provided blood through their participation in the Blood Emergency Readiness Corps. BERC is a dedicated group of U.S. blood centers who are on-call on a rotating basis to assist communities when emergency blood needs exceed or deplete local supply.

There is a nonstop, 24/7 need for blood, for emergencies, surgeries, cancer treatments, and so many other procedures.

Blood centers must have a readily available blood supply on the shelves in the event of emergencies. When time is critical, having blood available is lifesaving.

Donating blood consistently is a powerful, positive way to help others and support our greater community.

We urge donors to help by donating at a blood center near you. Participating BERC blood centers can be found online, with links to help you locate your nearest donor location.

Throughout North, Central and East Texas, donors can give at any of Carter BloodCare's 26 donor centers or any of the 20+ mobile blood drives held daily. Our donation locations can be found online, where you can easily schedule a time to donate. Donors are also invited to call or text 800-366-2834 to make an appointment to give.
