Help! My XDF/XFA Form Stopped Working

Do you have a legacy form that no longer loads in a web browser? Then you have come to the write place! XDF or XFA forms are no longer supported by web browsers (excluding Internet Explorer). If you are still using XDF or XFA forms here are some options that are available to you:
1.Force the user to use Internet Explorer (IE)
IE is still using the Adobe PDF Plugin at least for the time being. If the users accessing the form are internal this may be possible but if they are external there is no way to enforce this.
2. Produce a flattened version of the PDF
A static form would be able to render in the browser but then non of the dynamic fields would work. This would only work if the end users were just trying to look at the form.
3. Configure the end user’s browsers to download the document
This would give the dynamic features back into the form but like with the first option if they are external users you can’t force them to download the document
4. Convert the form to modern format such as HTML5 or Adaptive Form
This would give end users full access to the form but would require an Adobe Experience Manager license, with an server to render the form as well as a conversion or redesign of the original form. If there is only one form this is hard to justify but if multiple forms are being used or if this one from is critical to operations this would be the suggested route.
This is not the answer most people are looking for when they do reach out with this type of issue but unfortunately this is the reality when leveraging legacy technologies.
