Help Me Title My New Book?

Help Me Title My New Book?

Well team, here we go again. Time for a new book.

Actually, it’s time to update a book I wrote 25 years ago before cell phones and social media, before everyone was online all the time.

The good news is, Tongue Fu! is still selling in 17 languages around the world.

In fact, the National Public Library in China said it was THE most-checked-out book in 2018.

Tongue Fu! was ranked #3 in South Korea a few years ago. Their national newspaper (Chosun Biz) flew a reporter to the U.S. to interview me. He told me Tongue Fu! was transforming the traditional patriarchal culture by teaching people how to “speak to power with respect.”

I think you can understand why I feel an urgent need to update the book and get its universally relevant message out to even more people.

Its tips on how to give and get respect - and communicate clearly, calmly and confidently - are needed now more than ever.

The question is, what to call this new book?

That’s where you come in. A blend of brains are better than one. (Smile).

Eager to hear your ideas on what might motivate YOU to relate to this book, read it this book, and recommend it to others.

Here's a bit about its premise, theme and focus.

I welcome your recommendations for the title and sub-title.

Tongue Fu! 2 (working title) will:

1. Feature a few classic techniques from the original book (e.g., “When people complain, don’t explain, take the AAA Train”).

2. Introduce NEW soft skills, quotes, real-life stories and suggested dialogue on what to say in sensitive situations.

3. Offer diverse examples from different cultures, countries and industries

4. SHOW THE SHIFT with ways to replace Words to Lose with Words to Use

5. Report new research about the ANXIETY, STRESS and LONELINESS people feel because they don’t know how to talk to others

6. Teach how to prevent conflicts in the first place by setting an example of proactive grace so people are motivated to respond in kind

7. Dive into how to keep your cool - when other people aren't

8. Create more genuine connections when working remotely, meeting on zoom, posting on social media, and texting, emailing, and WhatsApping.

Here are a few sample titles to kick-start your thinking.

Can’t wait to hear your suggestions on what would get your interest.

1. Tongue Fu! 2.0: How to Think on Your Feet and Say What You Mean... The First Time and Every Time

2. Can’t We All Just Get Along? How to Create Rapport... One Person at a Time

6. Words Matter! How to Make People Feel Seen, Heard and Valued

7. RESPECT: How to Get It, Keep It, Share It

9. How To Handle Stressful Situations - Without Getting Stressed Out

Okay, your turn. What say you?

Thank you for your help. I'll be sure to report back and let you know "the winner" and what we run with. AND when the book is available.
