Help flatten the curve

These are crazy times. It can be tempting to dismiss COVID19 as "just like a season flu" and in our denial, challenge the new restrictions. This would be foolishly optimistic (says an optimist).
The ???? ???? ???? have rightly started to implement tougher measures. Perhaps they should have started sooner but they deserve credit for having the humility to change course.
Ultimate responsibility doesn't lie with our governments though. We as individuals and families need to collectively change our behaviour to 'flatten the curve'. This reduces the pressure on our health services, so they can save more lives. Delaying cases also gives us more time to develop treatments and perhaps even a vaccine.
I highly recommend reading the Imperial College paper, which supposedly influenced the change in the UK approach. It helps to understand the potential gravity of our current situation so that we act responsibly and remain motivated as cabin fever emerges. Some have challenged the modelling, and it may well later prove to have been overly deterministic and pessimistic. However, it highlights the potential risks involved with a new unknown virus when we lack immunity and effective treatments. Regardless of how accurate the predictions are, it's going be tough, and we're all in it together.
