Help Copenhagen Feminist Forum collect signatures for Accessible Abortion in Europe

Last week, Aryna Creang? from our team joined Copenhagen Feminist Forum’s inaugural event of this autumn to learn more about the ”My Voice, My Choice” Campaign and what we can all do to support it.

A European Citizen's Initiative

While reproductive rights are under threat in many European countries – with more than 20 million women still lacking access to abortion, a group of feminist organisations has joined forces to fight for accessible abortion in Europe.

The campaign organisers at My Voice, My Choice have submitted a European Citizen’s Petition, demanding that the European Union (EU) create a financial mechanism to provide safe abortion care for all those who don’t have access to it. This mechanism would allow states where abortion is legal to volunteer to join this policy, enabling those in need of abortion services to receive financial support from the EU to travel there and get the care they need.

For this mechanism to be implemented, the petition needs to be signed by 1 million EU citizens, and currently, the number of signatures is far from reaching that goal. ”My Voice, My Choice” Campaign aims to raise awareness about this initiative and support the collection of signatures in multiple EU countries.

What can you do to support it?

First, if you are an EU citizen and wish to support safe abortion in Europe, you can sign the petition here and share it with your friends and colleagues.

Then, if you wish to support the campaign further, you can join the signature collection movement in Copenhagen. This will take place on September 28, The International Safe Abortion Day. You can join the group at 12:00 at N?rreport Station, where you will receive materials with QR codes to help you share information about the campaign with locals in the city.?
