They have been developing at an unprecedented pace in recent years, and they are already transforming many aspects of our lives, from healthcare and education to transportation and entertainment.

The potential applications of #Artificial #Intelligence (AI) and #Robotics are vast, and they have the potential to address some of the world's most pressing challenges, such as climate change, poverty, and disease.

How did you start getting interested in Technology??

My interest in Technology came naturally to me and made me itch. I was born and raised in a family where my mother, a math and chemist teacher, and my two other uncles, respectively, were physicists and mechanical engineers. As a kid, I was fascinated by the work of my uncle. Being an engineer, he was able to handle various tasks such as calibrating devices, drawing objects assembling and welding metal, carrying out the central electrical system of his newly built house, and repairing electric machines. I was excited to learn some of those processes, especially welding metal and starting an electric motor, even without knowing their principles. I remember his notice that not looking directly at an electric arc can cause vision issues. I had no talent, but I was only passionately curious about reproducing the same results until I asked myself:?why don't we automate the process and allocate the welding task to a robot that might save our time and avoid vision issues??This question later brought me to pursue my electrical and electronics engineering courses at @Polytechnic School in Kinshasa (Democratic Republic Congo) and @Cyprus International University in Cyprus with a full scholarship. Fast-forward a couple of years, I chose to make #Artificial #Intelligence and Robotics my specialty until I enrolled to join the Computer Vision and Robotics International program at the @Université de Bourgogne in France, where I got my master's degree in #Computer #Vision. I later joined @Fit-For-Purpose Technologies as an #Artificial #Intelligence & #Robotics #Engineer to work on Biometrics, Embedded AI, and Robotics.

Why is it essential to combine Artificial Intelligence and Robotics?

Although Artificial Intelligence and Robotics have unique goals and uses, they are known to be strongly related. My late uncle carried out different tasks. To satisfy my childhood dream question, I realized that Robotics brings together Computer Science, Engineering, Mechanical Design, Electrical Design, and Electrical Components Programmed. And?with the help of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics is now developing faster, more elegantly, and more effectively. To realize the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the field of Robotics, it's essential to understand their subtle differences.

How did you choose to study Robotics and Artificial Intelligence as an academic education??

One of my early mentors in Cyprus was the first one who encouraged me to explore, choose and make Robotics and #Artificial #Intelligence as my academic education. I followed his advice, and I chose to specialize in AI & Robotics because I also wanted to contribute and be part of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Nowadays, through @Fit-For-Purpose Technologies,?I enjoy analyzing data, monitoring trends, building applications, and helping small- and large-scale companies make decisions to improve their businesses.?

What does your position and job at Fit-For-Purpose Technologies entail daily?

Under the #Artificial #Intelligence Lab at Fit-For-Purpose Technologies, I work on different R&D projects. The most well-known is #HALISI, finalist for the Digital for Development (D4D) Prize, a Human and Animal #Artificial #Intelligence Biometrics Authentication System. In addition to my role as an embedded systems engineer, I am responsible for Model Compression to be integrated and deployed on edge devices and robots. My project task covers various programming modules such as?model training, model deployment, MLOps, Inference, Metrics & Reporting, and building Apps on iOS and Android platforms. Besides, it includes brainstorming sessions, reviewing codes, supervising interns working on different components/modules,?implementing, and writing research papers, reading Digital Newsletters or Magazines, and?attending conferences?to be updated about recent technology developments in the industry.

What motivates you the most, and why work in Deep Technology??

Technology is one of the best things that ever happened to humankind since it connects people, gives new means to communicate and share, reduces the gap between people from different parts of the world, and makes life experience better. The reason why?I choose to work in the #Artificial #Intelligence R&D team at @Fit-For-Purpose Technologies helps to acquire new skills and brainstorm ideas to find ways to solve problems. The most motivation I got came from my supervisor at @Fit-For-Purpose Technologies ,?Dr.ir. Meshia Cédric Oveneke is the following one:?"Our knowledge in deep tech should not be static but rather dynamic. Because curiosity keeps the mind active instead of passive, it?opens up new worlds and possibilities,?to be open to continuously learning.?Always be curious to explore and go deep in research."

What advice would you give young people wanting to start a career in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics??

With the increasing adoption and business applications of #Artificial #Intelligence a, many young people should choose #AI and #Robotics as their careers. However, considering the competition to enter the domain, it may take much work to stand out in a pool of applicants.?

As an #Artificial #Intelligence and #Robotics professional, I advise young people to ensure that they are always aware of any current and upcoming advancements in the domain, staying abreast of the latest events and conferences happening in space and the main topics of discussion at these events. Subscribing to newsletters of AI-specific companies such as #Google, #DeepMind and other big players, is another way to stay up to date about the latest happenings in #Artificial #Intelligence and #Robotics. Also, get certifications related to the field to boost your career!
