DACL Challenge: Helmholtz Imaging Support Unit DKFZ Secures Third Place

The Applied Computer Vision Lab within the Helmholtz Imaging Support Units at DKFZ joined the?DACL Challenge focused on “Semantic Bridge Damage Segmentation”. Their team – the Winning Wieners – won third place. This accomplishment earned them a?prize of 1,500 Euros. The challenge’s objective was to identify optimal models for recognizing defects and components in bridges through semantic segmentation. The challenge was based on the “dacl10k” dataset, a novel, real-world, large-scale benchmark for multi-label semantic segmentation that distinguishes between thirteen defect types and six building components. A detailed overview of the challenge results and approaches will be presented in the challenge paper, soon to be published on the?organizers’ website .
