Telecommunication companies all around the world are facing a wide range of challenges – starting with issues related to software implementation for internal processes all the way to developing meaningful solutions for the customers.?The solution seems to be in developing different digital transformation strategies just to try to stay relevant within the competition on the market.
In order to better understand all these challenges, let’s try to list the most important ones.
1. A Digital Structure Decentralization
Most of the telecom industry digital systems are usually centralized and there is one single point of interaction. This arrangement does not seem to fit a new era before us, so both external and internal systems must be decentralized ASAP.
2. Ancillary and OTT services
Over The Top or OTT services is a name for any additional telco service there is today and are more than crucial in the battle at the current telco market, especially within the frame of meaningful digitalization. In order to work, some new elements must be added, while others must be revised.

3. Operational Complexity
It is inevitable - the number of subscribers is increasing by the day and new services are simply a must for all telco organizations that plan to stick around the market. Not only that, those services must be customized so any new communication solution in the operational processes is getting more complex. We are talking here about services such as initial configuration, customer support, ticket resolution, fulfillment, billing, and many others and even more new ones…
4. The?IoT and Cloud
No doubt about it, the Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing have brought the real revolution in this industry. Just like in many others. However, the proper integrations are still somewhat challenging. Therefore, Telco people all around the world are still trying to figure out the best possible solution to improve and fasten this integration. The struggle is real and it just keeps going.
5. Legacy Systems Upgrade
Up-grading the legacy systems is the challenge every single industry meets nowadays. Telco is no exception that is for sure. New digital systems and processes warrant that the older systems and replaced and software are updated. This takes a lot of money and even more time. As a matter of fact, this issue requires a special budget that is more than significate.
Facing these challenges gets even harder if you do not face them directly. The only way to overcome these obstacles (as they can easily turn from challenges to obstacles) is to carefully plan and create a strategy that will protect the organization from any setbacks. It is not impossible. It is just hard.
But, no struggle, no strive. Keep that in mind.
