"Hello, Sit Down, What Do You Want To Talk About?"

"Hello."

"Sit Down."

"What Do You Want To Talk About?"

Asked my GP earlier today at the start of a fairly routine appointment. 

But no words came out of my mouth. 

Then the tears started. 

They came out of nowhere! 

I was mortified. 

My GP wasn’t, he sat and let me cry and then he asked me again what I wanted to talk about. 

So I talked. 

And there were a few more tears, (mine, not his!) 

Then I was able to talk again and he listened, then we talked together.

Today was a start of something. 

I’m proud of myself for telling the truth, because I so nearly said “I’m fine”.

And when you take that first step, be proud of yourself. 

I wasn’t going to write this, I still wanted to bottle stuff up a bit, but if it makes sense to just one person then it’s worth it.
