Hello There! Prepare to be mind-blown...
Welcome to the first issue of our Newsletter “The Catalyst!” We are thrilled to embark on this journey, providing YOU with valuable resources, actionable tips, and exclusive opportunities to support your professional and personal growth.
To get started, this week, we will be sharing 5 Tips to Grow Your Career (excerpts from our June Career insights session)
1. Be Proactive:
Your career is your responsibility and yours alone. Take charge of your career by making deliberate choices and acting on them. Instead of waiting for opportunities to come to you, seek them out. While others may influence your progress, both negatively and positively, you need to recognize what you want and pursue it. Don't allow other people's opinions to dictate your path;
Forge your way with confidence and determination.
2. There are Many Ways to the Top:
There are different ways to succeed in your career, and it's never too late to change direction. If you feel stuck starting from an entry-level position and hoping to move up the ladder, you have other options to consider.
One way is to move horizontally across different departments, organizations, or industries, applying for more senior roles than your current one. This can help you gain a diverse set of skills and experiences that you can use to reach higher positions.
Another option is to focus on becoming an expert in a specific skill or industry. Specializing in this way can help you become well-known in your field and within organizations.
Ultimately, there is no one way to succeed. You can choose one path or combine them to grow your career. Each path has its challenges and rewards, so consider what best aligns with your strengths, interests, and long-term goals.
3. Be Adaptable and Flexible:
In today's fast-changing world, it's important to be flexible and able to adapt. Everything – jobs, employers, technologies, and industries – is always evolving, and so should you. Being adaptable means being open to new ideas, new ways of working, and new technologies, and being willing to learn new skills. We've seen how generative AI has transformed tasks and departments within organizations. One thing is certain about the future – more disruptions will come, and to succeed, you must be flexible and adaptable.
4. Prioritize Learning:
One of the goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is Lifelong Learning. It's important to make learning a part of your daily life. To stay adaptable, focus on learning, especially at the beginning of your career.

Learning means not only gaining knowledge, but also getting practical experience and understanding your organization and industry. Your income and career growth depend on how much you know and how skilled you are. Invest in learning, find mentors and coaches, take courses, attend industry events and conferences, join a community and network with other professionals in your field to learn new things and develop skills.
As the saying goes, the success you want often comes from doing the work you're avoiding, and the same goes for learning. The more skilled you become, the more valuable you are to employers and yourself.
5. Take Risks:
Playing it safe is an easy way to miss opportunities and remain in the same spot. You should strive to step out of your comfort zone and do hard things. If you feel qualified for the role, maybe you’re overqualified for the role. Accept challenging projects, switch careers if you have to, apply to that course, ask for that promotion, and do things that scare you.?
While not all risks will pay off, each experience provides valuable lessons and builds resilience. Embracing the possibility of failure is the first step to success.
