HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY!        

A Little History:?

• The earliest International Women's Day events included rallies for the right to vote and against gender discrimination, as well as women's anti-war protests and strikes.
• Every year, March 8th is celebrated as International Women's Day around the globe. While Women's Day traces its history to feminist movements in Europe and America in the early 1900s, the day became mainstream after it was adopted by the United Nations in 1977.
• During the Pandemic ?more often women were forced to walk away from careers to care for their children, as daycare services were suspended.
• Women are increasingly being recognized as more vulnerable to climate change impacts than men, as they constitute the majority of the world’s poor and are more dependent on the natural resources which climate change threatens the most," the UN's website states.

A Few US Historic Moments:

• August 18, 1920: ?Women win the right to vote, after a 72-year-long fight, the 19th Amendment finally passed.
• June 10, 1963: ?The Equal Pay Act aimed to abolish the wage discrimination against women. It was signed by John F. Kennedy
• June 18, 1983: ?Sally Ride becomes the first American woman in space.
• January 20, 2021: ?The first Woman Vice President was sworn in as the 49th U.S. Vice President.
