"When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it." – Paulo Coelho
I am sure you have heard of the concept before, but have you ever really created a personal vision statement? Most people don't take the time to do this exercise, but it can definitely impact how you shape your future. A personal vision statement captures what you want to be, do, feel, think, and impact by some date in the future.
Let's start with your intention and timeframe. Why do you want to do this, and what version of your future self are you speaking to? For example, do you want to focus on one year from now, five years in the future, or just three months?
Why is it important to create a Personal Vision Statement?
Because it's easy to get distracted and lose sight of what's important, your vision will inspire you to focus on what matters. A compelling personal vision statement can illuminate your way in periods of darkness. It can inspire you to shed all the stuff that is holding you back.
Craft Your Personal Vision Statement
Remind yourself that this process doesn't have to yield a "perfect" vision. Any vision is better than no vision. Whatever you create is not set in stone. It can evolve with you over time. For now, simply create a "working vision." Look at it as a first draft. The goal of crafting your vision is to capture the most important things to you.

Let's get started! Paint a picture of what you see. Remember to include all the senses, people, and places that will be just right for this scenario to flourish.
Once you complete your vision statement, don't just read it. You have to embody it and bring it to life!
