I hope you’re well and your 2023 has started well!

Mine has started off with a bang as I recently I had the pleasure of co-hosting the?Heriot Brown In-House Legal Recruitment?annual GC Charity Burns Night. It was strange to think that just one year earlier I had simply been a guest and now I was running the show!?I was delighted to announce last week that we raised ￡18,070?for our charity partner?Beam! In September, I attended the InterLaw Diversity Forum Apollo Summit and met lots of fabulous people keen to discuss improving the D&I agenda in legal. I spotted a few interesting initiatives from people I met there and wanted to share some.? Maaike de Bie , co-lead of the Disability Expertise Community of General Counsel for Diversity & Inclusion shared their new Disability Inclusion Nudge Cards. These Cards are tools which help you to think about how you make your workplace inclusive for people with disabilities.?View the post and relevant links here.

At the event,? Patricia Wick Christias ?spoke on a panel and shared how the Microsoft UK Law Firm Diversity Program works.?She’s just announced the results here?and it’s a really powerful and innovative way for In-House Counsel to encourage and reward law firm partners to create more diverse and inclusive organisations

Speaking of?InterLaw Diversity Forum, I’m looking forward to attending their?free event on Wednesday 8th Feb in London on “Everyday Inclusion”?and hope to see some of you there too!

Awards & Recognition

Congratulations to those who made?The Lawyer Hot100?this year! I did miss the buzz around the news room when they make those calls! If you’re sat there thinking, “how do I get on the list?” then pop me a message and I’ll happy offer some advice! Likewise, if you’re thinking about entering the awards, I’m happy to share my two cents from running them the past 7 years ??

The biggest hurdle is getting past the cringe factor (trust me, I get it!) but if you’ve got something interesting to share then the rest of the community will appreciate hearing about it!
